We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the late Senator Santanina Tillah Rasul.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the late Senator Santanina Tillah Rasul.

Dr. Santanina Rasul was a Commissioner for Muslim and other ethnic minorities from 1978-1987; Senator from 1987-1992 and 1992-1995; and was a champion of Muslim and women’s rights. She was the prime mover for the passage of Republic Act 6949 which declared March 8 as the National Women's Day in the Philippines and RA 7192 or the Women in Development and Nation-Building Act, which outlawed discrimination against women and opened the doors of the Philippine Military Academy to women cadets.

She was married to former Ambassador Abraham Rasul, with whom she had six children, including Honorable Amina Rasul-Bernardo, a member of the MSU Board of Regents.

₱85-M Halal Research Center to Rise at MSU TCTO, Advancing Halal Innovation in the Bangsamoro

Strengthening its commitment to research, innovation, and community-responsive development, the Mindanao State University Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU TCTO) is set to establish a four-storey Halal Research Center with a total project investment of ₱85 million. The facility, which will have a 3,200-square-meter floor area, aims to serve as a hub for halal research, training, product development, and industry collaboration in the Bangsamoro region. Once completed, the Center is expected to support the growing demand for halal-certified products and services while advancing scientific research, professional training, and economic opportunities in the halal industry.
