State-of-the-Art SALI Hub Soon to Rise, Marks New Era in Educational Innovation

The University formally held the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Sulu Archipelago Learning Innovation (SALI) Hub on December 18.

The SALI Hub is part of the University's project titled "University Technology Modernization for Intelligent Campus Information Systems." Lancaster Technology and Development Corporation is the main supplier of this project.

The event was graced by the MSU System President Atty. Basari D. Mapupuno and CEO John N. Domantay of Lancaster Technology and Development Corporation. Guests from the MSU System, stakeholders from local government units (LGUs), line agencies, partner institutions, higher education institutions (HEIs), alumni, faculty, staff, and the Baby Dolphins of the University also witnessed the event.

The 40-year-old Academic Building will be upgraded and transformed into the Sulu Archipelago Learning Innovation (SALI) Hub. This facility will serve as a center of excellence for research and training in seaweed and oceanography at MSU-TCTO. It will include training and research facilities, the Chancellor's Office, a support office wing, and the ICT Office and Command Center. Additionally, the building's design will adhere to Tawi-Tawi's traditional and religious practices, as well as comply with Philippine rules and norms.

The SALI Hub will house the following:

✅ First Floor:

10 e-classrooms. Each e-classroom will have 50 desktop computers for students plus 1 desktop for the faculty (510 total)

✅ Second Floor:

3 e-laboratories with 51 desktop computers (153 total); 3 training centers with 36 desktop computers (108 total); one state-of-the-art Conference Room with a carrying capacity of 50 people; comfort rooms

✅ Third Floor:

Command Center, Conference Room, six (6) ICT-ready offices; prayer rooms; comfort rooms

In addition, two classrooms for the following Colleges will be retrofitted to become e-classrooms with 36 computers each:

College of Education

– 2 classrooms at Indanan Anni Hall

College of Islamic and Arabic Studies and College of Law

– 2 classrooms at Indanan Anni Hall

Institute of Oceanography and Environmental Science

– 2 classrooms at IOES Building

The SALI Hub marks a significant advancement in the University’s commitment to modernizing education. This state-of-the-art facility will enhance students' learning experiences and serve as a symbol of innovation and progress in the region. With the support of partners and stakeholders, the SALI Hub is set to become a cornerstone of modern education, fostering a culture of knowledge and growth.
