Shaping Financial Futures: MSU-TCTO Hosts 6th Finance Summit MSU Tawi-Tawi hosted the 2024 MSU System 6th Finance Summit which commenced on October 28 and concluded on October 30 at Palacio Del Sur, Zamboanga City. Themed "OneMSU for Responsible Finance and Fiscal Sustainability,” representatives from the thirteen (13) campuses, namely MSU Marawi, MSU IIT, MSU MSAT, MSU Buug, MSU LNAC, MSU Naawan, MSU Maguindanao, MSU General Santos, MSU LNCAT, MSU Sulu, MSU Sindangan Extension Campus, MSU Bataraza Extension Campus, and MSU Tawi-Tawi, convened to share best practices, tackle existing challenges, and chart the future of the University. The three-day summit thoroughly discussed eight topics. For Day 1, Ms. Hazel A. Iligan from the Department of Budget and Management delivered a presentation on the Overview and Updates on Budget and Management Process. Senior Budget and Management Specialist Mr. Ringo Christian D. Santiago from the Department of Budget and Management provided insights on the Organization and Staffing Actions for State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), as well as the Preparation and Submission of the Agency’s BEDs. Mr. Virgillo A. Umpacan, also from the Department of Budget and Management, gave insights on the Preparation and Submission of Agency's Budget and Financial Accountability Reports. On Day 2, Ms. Janina Faith C. Casucog, Senior Economic Development Specialist from the PIS-IPD, IPG, NEDA, delivered a presentation on the Public Investment Program Online (PIPOL) for SUCs and Budgeting and Planning Framework. Chief Engr. Reyen M. Sabate, representing the Office of Institutional Quality Assurance and Governance at CHED, addressed the Updating and Revision of Land Use Development and Infrastructure Plan (LUDIP). Ms. Akima M. Bangcola, the Budget Officer of MSU IIT, discussed the Terminal Report: MSU System Finance Team to Adopt Uniform Templates of BOR Finance Agenda and Income Utilization Guidelines in Accordance with CHED Memorandum Order No. 20, S. 2011, while Dr. Rey Y. Capangpangan, the Director of the Office of International Affairs and Linkages of MSU Naawan, shared insights on the Best Practices of MSU Naawan in the Preparation of R&E MOOE Proposals. The summit highlighted the MSU System's commitment to resolving financial issues for sustainable development. ₱85-M Halal Research Center to Rise at MSU TCTO, Advancing Halal Innovation in the Bangsamoro
Strengthening its commitment to research, innovation, and community-responsive development, the Mindanao State University Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU TCTO) is set to establish a four-storey Halal Research Center with a total project investment of ₱85 million. The facility, which will have a 3,200-square-meter floor area, aims to serve as a hub for halal research, training, product development, and industry collaboration in the Bangsamoro region. Once completed, the Center is expected to support the growing demand for halal-certified products and services while advancing scientific research, professional training, and economic opportunities in the halal industry.
