In accordance with the BOR Resolution No. 81, series of 2024, creating the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, we are honored to introduce Assoc. Prof. Alcyn R. Bakkang as the newly designated Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs through Special Order No. 949-OP, series of 2024. Assoc. Prof. Bakkang, a faculty member of the College of Education, carries his experience into this role. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from MSU-TCTO in 1998 and later pursued a Master of Education with a focus on Assessment, Measurement, and Evaluation at the University of Western Australia in 2010.The University looks forward to his leadership in creating a supportive and nurturing environment for our students’ personal and academic growth.

In recognition of excellence in quality assurance, University Chancellor Prof. Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali, Ph.D. was conferred the Manuel T. Corpus Outstanding Quality Champion Award 2026, the highest distinction granted by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), during the 39th AACCUP National Conference and General Assembly held on March 24, 2026 at the Century Park Hotel, Malate, Metro Manila.

₱85-M Halal Research Center to Rise at MSU TCTO, Advancing Halal Innovation in the Bangsamoro
Strengthening its commitment to research, innovation, and community-responsive development, the Mindanao State University Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU TCTO) is set to establish a four-storey Halal Research Center with a total project investment of ₱85 million. The facility, which will have a 3,200-square-meter floor area, aims to serve as a hub for halal research, training, product development, and industry collaboration in the Bangsamoro region. Once completed, the Center is expected to support the growing demand for halal-certified products and services while advancing scientific research, professional training, and economic opportunities in the halal industry.
