The MSU Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography is now a proud member of the UN Champion for Future Generations, coordinated by the School of International Futures (SOIF)—strengthening its institutional prestige and enhancing its visibility within the global futures and foresight community.

As a member of the UN Champion for Future Generations, MSU-TCTO plays a vital role in promoting intergenerational equity, futures thinking, and long-term sustainability within and beyond the Bangsamoro region. This membership strengthens the university's role as a leader in future planning in the Coral Triangle, allowing it to include future-focused education, align its goals with global objectives like the SDGs and the UN Declaration on Future Generations, and actively participate in important discussions about climate resilience, ocean care, and forward-thinking governance.

By actively participating in this global movement, MSU-TCTO not only empowers its students, faculty, and partner communities to imagine and build better futures—it also ensures that the voices of future generations are considered in today’s planning, research, and policy decisions.

The UN Declaration on Future Generations, adopted in 2024 as part of the Pact for the Future, is a global commitment by United Nations Member States to uphold the rights, well-being, and dignity of people yet unborn. It emphasizes the importance of fairness between generations and urges governments, organizations, and communities to include long-term thinking, sustainability, and forward-looking governance in their current choices and systems.

The declaration outlines guiding principles, concrete commitments, and mechanisms for accountability to ensure that present actions do not compromise the ability of future generations to thrive. It serves as a foundational step toward building a just, inclusive, and sustainable future for all.

Through this membership, MSU-TCTO affirms its enduring commitment to shaping a future that honors both heritage and possibility. As it joins hands with global foresight leaders, the university continues to champion inclusive, anticipatory, and values-driven education—ensuring that the dreams of tomorrow are rooted in the wisdom, resilience, and aspirations of today.
