MSU TCTO IPDM Joins MinSuPala-IRDC Policy Writeshop in Davao City

MSU Tawi-Tawi Institute for Peace and Development in Mindanao proudly participated in the MinSuPala-IRDC Policy Brief Writeshop held on May 28–29, 2025, in Davao City.

The University of the Philippines Center for Integrative and Development Studies (UP CIDS) spearheaded the two-day writeshop to capacitate members of the Mindanao-Sulu-Palawan Innovative Research and Development Consortium (MinSuPala-IRDC) in translating scientific research into clear, policy-relevant outputs. Dr. Rosalie Arcala-Hall, Executive Director of UP CIDS, served as the main Resource Person together with Ms. Honeylet Alerta.

Representing MSU TCTO were Ms. Madzween Joy De Asis-Omar, Director of IPDM, and Asst. Prof. Calvin J. Caliat, Chairperson of the Department of Management of the College of Arts and Sciences.

As a new member of the MinSuPala-IRDC consortium, MSU TCTO embraces this opportunity to contribute to research-to-policy work and cross-disciplinary collaboration toward sustainable development and good governance in the MinSuPala region.

₱85-M Halal Research Center to Rise at MSU TCTO, Advancing Halal Innovation in the Bangsamoro

Strengthening its commitment to research, innovation, and community-responsive development, the Mindanao State University Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU TCTO) is set to establish a four-storey Halal Research Center with a total project investment of ₱85 million. The facility, which will have a 3,200-square-meter floor area, aims to serve as a hub for halal research, training, product development, and industry collaboration in the Bangsamoro region. Once completed, the Center is expected to support the growing demand for halal-certified products and services while advancing scientific research, professional training, and economic opportunities in the halal industry.
