The MSU-TCTO Dolphins secured the fifth spot in the recently concluded 7th Mindanao State University System Athletic Association (MSUSAA) Unity Games, held at MSU-General Santos City from May 31–June 5, 2024. The six-day sports event commenced with an opening parade featuring athletes, coaches, officials, and sports directors from 12 different MSU campuses namely; MSU Gensan, MSU Iligan, MSU Marawi, MSU MSAT, MSU Sulu, MSU Tawi-Tawi, MSU Maguindanao, MSU Buug, MSU Naawan, MSU LNCAT, MSU Sindangan, and MSU LNAC. A total of 80 delegates represented the institution, including 61 athletes and 19 officials. The athletes competed in various sports such as basketball, volleyball, lawn tennis, athletics, chess, table tennis, beach volleyball, and sepak takraw. The Dolphins brought pride to TCTO by winning several medals: Silver in Lawn Tennis, Silver in Men's Beach Volleyball, Bronze in Sepak Takraw, Gold and Bronze in the 100 Meter Dash Athletics, and Bronze in the 200 Meter Dash Athletics. The unwavering support and dedication of the sports officials, who provided exceptional training, guidance, and motivation to the athletes, ensuring their success and fostering a spirit of teamwork and excellence, made the said achievements possible. In recognition of excellence in quality assurance, University Chancellor Prof. Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali, Ph.D. was conferred the Manuel T. ₱85-M Halal Research Center to Rise at MSU TCTO, Advancing Halal Innovation in the Bangsamoro
Strengthening its commitment to research, innovation, and community-responsive development, the Mindanao State University Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU TCTO) is set to establish a four-storey Halal Research Center with a total project investment of ₱85 million. The facility, which will have a 3,200-square-meter floor area, aims to serve as a hub for halal research, training, product development, and industry collaboration in the Bangsamoro region. Once completed, the Center is expected to support the growing demand for halal-certified products and services while advancing scientific research, professional training, and economic opportunities in the halal industry.
