Meet an FIMFS 2023 Plenary Speaker at MSU Tawi-Tawi! Dr. Mudjekeewis Dalisay Santos is a conferred Scientist IV at the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute. He obtained his M.S. in Aquatic Biosciences and Ph.D. in Applied Marine Biosciences from the Tokyo University in Japan. He is an Academician and esteemed member of the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) Philippines. He is currently the Editor-In-Chief of the The Philippine Journal of Fisheries, Section Editor of the Philippine Agricultural Scientist and an Editor of Fisheries Science, the official journal of the Japan Society for Fisheries Science. He is a recipient of the Award of Excellence in Socio-Economic Applications of DNA Barcoding by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada and the Presidential Lingkod Bayan award by the Civil Service Commission and the Office of the President of the Philippines." His plenary talk is titled “Memasabi sa Mameng: Status of Napoleon wrasse, Cheilinus undulatus research and management in the Philippines.”

MSU TCTO Chancellor Recognized as the 1st Recipient in the Bangsamoro of AACCUP’s Highest Distinction
In recognition of excellence in quality assurance, University Chancellor Prof. Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali, Ph.D. was conferred the Manuel T. Corpus Outstanding Quality Champion Award 2026, the highest distinction granted by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), during the 39th AACCUP National Conference and General Assembly held on March 24, 2026 at the Century Park Hotel, Malate, Metro Manila.

₱85-M Halal Research Center to Rise at MSU TCTO, Advancing Halal Innovation in the Bangsamoro
Strengthening its commitment to research, innovation, and community-responsive development, the Mindanao State University Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU TCTO) is set to establish a four-storey Halal Research Center with a total project investment of ₱85 million. The facility, which will have a 3,200-square-meter floor area, aims to serve as a hub for halal research, training, product development, and industry collaboration in the Bangsamoro region. Once completed, the Center is expected to support the growing demand for halal-certified products and services while advancing scientific research, professional training, and economic opportunities in the halal industry.
