DOST-SEI Visits MSU-TCTO to Promote Scholarship Programs and Collaborations

The Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) led by Dr. Jayeel S. Cornelio, DOST-SEI Director, conducted a two-day visit to the Mindanao State University-Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU-TCTO) on March 24-25, 2025.

The team consisted of the DOST-SEI Director himself, Dr. Jayeel S. Cornelio, Ms. Cynthia T. Gayya, Chief Science Research Specialist, Ms. Jobelle Gayas, Senior Science Research Specialist, Ms. Sheryll Lee Sales, Science Research Specialist II, Ms. Sharamae Torres-Co, Science Research Specialist II, and Mr. Franklin Duane A. Madriñan, Project Technical Specialist I. The team aimed to promote their scholarship programs, training opportunities, and capacity-building initiatives to the MSU-TCTO community.

During the visit, the DOST-SEI team had the opportunity to tour the MSU-TCTO campus, exploring its various facilities, and engaged with the university's administrators, faculty members, staff, and students to discuss potential collaborations and promote their programs.

Beyond the campus, the team also immersed themselves in the rich culture and traditions, gaining a deeper understanding of the local way of life and appreciation for the Tawi-Tawi’s unique heritage. The visit highlighted the DOST-SEI's commitment to promoting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education in the Tawi-Tawi community.

The institute's scholarship programs and training opportunities aim to develop a pool of talented and skilled human resources in the fields of science and technology (S&T). The MSU-TCTO community welcomed the DOST-SEI team and expressed their gratitude for the visit headed by Chancellor Dr. Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali.

The visit served as an avenue for the DOST-SEI to showcase its commitment to promoting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education in the country. By engaging with the MSU-TCTO community and experiencing the local culture, the team aimed to establish a stronger connection with the region and explore potential collaborations in research, training, and capacity building.
